WAPCOS Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility depends on the post. Each post has its own qualification and experience requirement, given in the next section. The common conditions in the notification are:

WAPCOS Recruitment 2026 Qualification and Experience

The qualification and experience conditions are given below as stated in the notification, post by post.

Indian Projects

1. Transmission Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• Transmission Line Engineer shall have a professional work record of not less than 10 years in planning, designing, managing, quality assurance and supervising transmission line with voltage levels of minimum 220kV. Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 3 years.
• Shall have experience of not less than 10 years in survey of transmission line at voltage level of minimum 220kV. Experience of Stringing of conductor, erection of special and multi circuit tower and pile foundation in river crossing will be preferred.

2. Civil Expert (Transmission & Substation) (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor or higher degree in civil engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• The engineer should preferably have minimum 10 years of relevant experience in designing, quality monitoring and supervising of transmission line and Substations civil foundation works with voltage levels covering 132kV and upward up to 220kV. Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 3 years.
• The expert shall have an understanding of High Voltage Transmission line clearances and safety considerations and knowledge on AutoCAD or similar software.
• Should be well conversant with methods and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings or other structures and specially the different types of foundation involves in transmission lines including pile and well foundation.

3. Procurement & Contract Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Post graduate degree in Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• The Procurement and Contract Expert shall have an professional work record of not less than 10 years in managing procurement and contract management for works of construction of transmission lines and substations of voltage level upto 220kV.
• Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 3 years for any Externally Aided Project.
• Expert should be well conversant with the procurement guidelines and procedures of the externally aided project. Expert having certification from MDBs, will be preferable.

4. Sr. Environmental Safeguard Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Master's degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Management/Environmental Engineering or in similar field from recognized institution.

Experience:

• 10 years of demonstrated experience in preparation and implementation of EIA/ESIAs and EMP/ESMPs for assessment, management and monitoring environmental and social risks and impacts in linear Infrastructure projects. The expert should be conversant with the Environmental Codes of Practice in the context of Govt. of India. The expert should also be conversant with the environmental and social policies of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).
• Experience in overseeing Energy Infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
• Must have experience of working in at least two Externally Aided Projects for overall period of minimum 5 years.
• Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 5 years.

5. Sr. Social Safeguard Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Master's degree in Social Science / Social Work / Social Management or similar field from recognized institution.

Experience:

• 10 years of demonstrated experience in preparation and implementation of social assessments and management plans, resettlement action plan/Tribal Development Plan, Livelihood assessment and restoration plan etc. in linear Infrastructure projects. The expert should also be conversant with the social policies of Govt. of India and Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).
• Experience in overseeing Energy Infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.
• Must have experience of working in at least two Externally Aided Projects for overall period of minimum 5 years.
• Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 5 years.

6. Occupational, Health & Safety Officer (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Degree / P.G. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety/ Industrial safety or equivalent from any recognized Institution.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Occupational, Health and Safety management. The officer should be well conversant with the safety policies and regulations adopted by the MDB funded linear infrastructure projects and should have minimum 3 years' experience.
• Moreover, the expert having experience of working under PMC services/consultant will be an added advantage.

7. Environmental Investigation Officer (3 vacancies)

Qualification: M.Sc. in Environmental Science or in relevant field from recognized institution.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience of working on environment related aspects of transmission line and substation construction projects of 132kV/220kV level. The experience in projects funded by Multilateral Development Banks shall be preferred.

8. Project Accountant (1 vacancy)

Qualification: B.Com. from recognized institution.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting of power transmission and distribution sector infrastructure development projects. The experience in projects funded by Multilateral Development Banks shall be preferred.

9. Office Assistant (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Any Graduate Degree from recognized institution.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in assisting office works related to power transmission and distribution sector infrastructure development projects.

Overseas Projects (Africa Region)

1. Project Manager (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• At least Ten (10) years' experience in managing/implementation/ design & supervision of Distribution Network Refurbishment and Strengthening and Last Mile connection projects or similar projects.
• The project Manager shall have managed at least three (3) projects of similar nature within last ten (10) years.

2. Distribution Substation Engineer (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.

Experience:

• At least ten (10) years' experience in the design, testing, installation, and commissioning of indoor and outdoor substations and switchgear.
• The Distribution Substation Engineer shall have worked on at least two (2) projects of similar nature and scope within the last seven (7) years.
• Registration with a recognized professional body will be an added advantage.

3. Distribution Line Engineer (Electrical) (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.

Experience:

• At least ten (10) years' experience in the design, testing, installation, and commissioning of medium voltage and low voltage distribution systems, pole-mounted and ground-mounted transformers, and last mile connections.
• The Distribution Line Engineer shall have worked on at least two (2) projects of similar nature and scope within the last seven (7) years, including large-scale roll-out of electricity connections.
• Registration with a recognized professional body will be an added advantage.

4. Renewable Energy Engineer, BESS specialist (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Master's degree in Renewable Energy Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience: At least twelve (12) years of experience in studies / control / implementation on projects for the construction of solar photovoltaic systems, including at least seven (07) years of experience on projects for the construction of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic power plants, connected to the HTB or HTA electricity network.

Must have achieved at least over the last seven (07) years:

• Two (02) execution/control and supervision missions for construction projects for a photovoltaic solar power plant of at least 20 MWc with BESS storage of at least 20 MWh, connected to an HTB or HTA, electricity network.
• Two (02) detailed technical study or technical assistance missions relating to photovoltaic solar power plant construction projects with BESS storage, connected to an HTB or HTA electricity network.
• Having experience in control and supervision missions or detailed technical study or technical assistance relating to BESS storage projects of at least 20 MWh, connected to an HTB or HTA electricity network would be an asset.
• Having a good knowledge of the environmental and social standards of the World Bank and the IFC would be an asset.

5. Solar Power Plant Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Masters Degree in Renewable Energy Engineer level or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• At least twelve (12) years of experience in studies / control / implementation on photovoltaic solar system construction projects, including at least seven (07) years in photovoltaic solar power plant projects connected to the HTB or HTA electricity network.
• Must have achieved at least over the last seven (07) years following tasks:
• Three (03) execution/control and supervision missions for construction projects for a photovoltaic solar power plant of at least 20 MWc connected to an HTB or HTA electricity network.
• One (01) detailed technical study or technical assistance mission relating to projects for the construction of a photovoltaic solar power plant of at least 20 MWc connected to an HTB or HTA electricity network.
• Having a good knowledge of the environmental and social standards of the World Bank and the IFC would be an asset.
• Will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to the construction of the solar power plant.

6. Civil Engineer (Solar Power Plant) (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• At least seven (07) years of experience in studies / control / implementation on civil engineering construction projects, including at least five (05) years on photovoltaic solar power plant projects connected to the HTB or HTA electricity network.
• Must have carried out at least over the last seven (07) years: two (02) missions of control and supervision of civil engineering works relating to the construction of a photovoltaic solar power plant of at least 10 MWc connected to an HTB or HTA electricity network, as works controller.

7. Transmission Expert (1 vacancy)

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from recognized institution.

Experience:

• Transmission Line Engineer shall have a professional work record of not less than 10 years in planning, designing, managing, quality assurance and supervising transmission line with voltage levels of 132kV and above. Moreover, the expert must have experience of working under PMC services/consultant for a period of minimum 3 years.
• Shall have experience of not less than 10 years in survey of transmission line at voltage level of minimum 132kV. Experience of Stringing of conductor, erection of special and multi circuit tower and pile foundation in river crossing will be preferred.
• The expert shall have worked on at least three (3) projects of similar nature in the last ten (10) years.

8. Project Manager (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Bachelor or master's degree in electrical engineering from recognized institution. Post-Graduation in Project Management / Planning / Engineering/ Administration will be an advantage.

Experience:

• 15 years' experience in Electrical Power Systems; ten (10) years' experience in Distribution Power Network Construction of up to 66 kV and seven (7) years' experience in Project Management.
• The Project Manager shall have experience in leading/Managing the implementation of at least three (3) Distribution projects of up to 33kV during the last ten (10) years. Minimum two (2) projects shall be of international turnkey contracts funded by international funding institutions (IFIs).
• The Project Manager shall be fluent in Portuguese with working knowledge of English and shall have worked in Sub Saharan Africa region.

9. Social and Gender Specialist (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Diploma in Social Sciences from recognized institution.

Experience:

• Shall have minimum five (5) years' of working experience in Social Development and Stakeholder Engagement.
• The social specialist shall have experience in similar projects of Social Development, in E&S risks and impacts assessment and management, particularly related to public civil works, so as experience in dealing with community conflicts mediation and Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM).
• Experience in assess and address GBV risks and challenges will be an asset and in Communication for Development and Behaviour Change an advantage.
• Shall have professional experience in Africa and shall have language proficiency in Portuguese.
• The specialist should provide training and guidance to the Social and Gender assistants.

10. Distribution Engineer (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering from recognized institution.

Experience:

• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in design and construction of distribution system projects up to 66 kV.
• The Distribution Engineer shall demonstrate expertise of working in similar projects and conducting, design and test of equipment of LV distribution system including household connection as well as of MV system.
• Shall have experience of working in minimum two (2) projects funded by International Funding Institutions experience.
• The Distribution Engineer shall be fluent in Portuguese with working knowledge of English and shall have worked in Sub Saharan Africa region.

11. General Site Supervisor (1 vacancy)

Qualification: Minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering from recognized institution.

Experience:

• Minimum 15 years of general experience.
• Shall have minimum ten (10) years in project supervision/coordination; shall have participated in minimum three (3) contracts as project supervisor and two (2) projects should have been financed by International Financial Institutions.
• The General Site Supervisor shall be fluent in Portuguese with working knowledge of English and shall have worked in Sub Saharan Africa region.

12. Resident Project Manager (1 vacancy)

Qualification: B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields from a recognized university.

• 15 years of experience in power system infrastructure construction, design, project implementation, and construction supervision.
